Twitter has grown quickly and has gained popularity amongst people. In fact, twitter has gained popularity under all conditions of work. There is interesting growth of information on Twitter, which was recently provided by the companies. Twitter has recently sent out its 10 billionth tweet, which is itself a great achievement. 10,000,000,000th tweet turned out to be a great excitement and achievement for the company. It is not surprising to think about it. This was the website, which grew 1382% in one year (Feb’ 08- Feb’ 09). It attracted 475000 visitors in Feb 2008 and the number became 7038000 after one year. Twitter presently pushes out daily average of 50 million and various other devices at the rate over 2 million every single hour of the day. People were tweeting 5000 times a day in 2007. In 2008, it became 300000 and in 2009, it grew up to 2.5 million every day. Tweets enhanced 1400% in the last year to 35 million per day. Presently, we see 50 million tweets every day, which means about 600 tweets per second. Twitter was initiated in 2006. The first twitter message was floated on March 21, 2006 by Jack Dorsey and the message was ‘just setting up my twttr’. From that very time, Twitter has become a huge social media phenomenon. The company has struggled over the past few years to develop a truly compelling revenue model to benefit financially from the service’s popularity. They have risen over $57 million from venture capitalists. The ten billionth tweet was estimated to have been sent sometime on 6th March. The uncertainty comes from the methodology used to determine the exact number of tweets, which have been sent. The method used relies on historical data and rates of tweeting to arrive at a number. Most major news sources were turning to a fun application entitled Giga-Tweet, which has a counter that continuously counts the tweets. GigaTweet estimates that the next billion tweets will have been sent out within the next 20 days.
