Rackspace offers UK global clouds for customers |

A range of new cloud services will be made obtainable to UK-based IT departments, such as US providers Peer 1 and Rackspace develop their services overseas. The companies in the solution have data centres situated around the globe and acclaimed businesses would advantage from not getting to use dissimilar hosting companies to cover various regions of the world. PEER 1 a US online IT business hosting provider, gave its CloudXcelerator programme, which will permit its UK partner ElasticHosts to offer customers cloud applications housed in the Peer 1 infrastructure. ElasticHosts provides bendable server capacity for scalable web hosting. ‘ElasticHosts’ new capacity with Peer 1 will make the company the first cloud infrastructure provider to offer dual redundant availability zones in Europe. Meanwhile, Peer 1 competitor Rackspace will also begin offering its cloud services to the UK market. Although formerly, Rackspace allowed UK businesses to web host their private clouds in its data centres, it did not have the capacities to manage their cloud for them. The new public cloud will give organisations the ability to scale up and down as they need. Rackspace has 9 data centres worldwide and 3 in the United Kingdom, offering web site hosting and storage services. Applications hosted in a cloud in a location are not known for everyone. We have data centres all over the world so that elements of critical applications can be hosted physically nearby an organisation. A huge barrier to organisations adopting the technology is that IT groups feel threatened by cloud services because 80% of their work is spent on maintenance and this is taken care of. We permit IT to spend more time on innovation for the customer. Rackspace will insert Microsoft Windows support to its cloud platform by the end of this year.
